FRAGRANCE FREE
To ensure N/evermore is a safe and accessible space for all, we kindly require your help in creating a fragrance-reduced environment.
Please do not wear synthetic fragrances such as cologne, perfume, body sprays (like Axe), or strongly scented lotions. These products can trigger severe allergies and migraines in members of our community.
Your cooperation in choosing fragrance-free or naturally scented products for the weekend is a vital act of care and inclusivity!
CODE OF CONDUCT
- Be Welcoming and Respectful: Nevermore Jazz Ball is for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all, short of the paradox of tolerance.
- Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes threatening comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted physical contact, or any non-consensual sexual attention. Any behavior that makes someone feel unsafe is unacceptable.
- Take Ownership of Your Actions: We expect every attendee to be mindful of their actions and language. If someone indicates, verbally or non-verbally, that they are uncomfortable, immediately check your behavior, sincerely apologize, and change your actions.
- The Right to Say “No”: You have an absolute right to feel safe and respected. It is always okay to say “no” to a dance for any reason, and you are not required to provide an explanation. If someone says “no” to you, please accept their decision gracefully and move on.
- Creating a Safe Environment: We are a community built on consent and mutual respect. Let’s work together to create an environment where everyone feels safe. This means modeling respectful behavior and speaking up if you see or hear something that seems wrong.
- Staff Intervention: If you observe someone who appears uncomfortable and feel safe doing so, check in with them or alert a Nevermore Jazz Ball staff member. Our staff reserves the right to take any action necessary to enforce this policy, including issuing a warning, removing someone from the event without a refund, or involving law enforcement.
REPORT CONCERNS
- NON URGENT: To report non-immediate concerns, please email nevermorestlinfo@gmail.com – Your concerns will be treated professionally and confidentially.
- URGENT: To report immediate concerns, please find the closest Nevermore staff member and they will guide you to our Safety Officer. From there, we can find a quiet and confidential place to address your concern.
HEALTH & SAFETY
- Get vaccinated. For the safety of the entire community, we strongly encourage all attendees to be up to date on their COVID-19 and flu vaccinations at least two weeks before the event. Vaccination is a key tool for preventing severe illness and hospitalization.
- Stay home if you’re sick. This is the most important way to protect everyone. Do not come to the event if you have a fever, are sneezing and coughing, or have any other symptoms of illness.
- Prioritize rest and hydration. Your body needs both to stay healthy, especially during an active event. Take breaks to sit down and rest, and drink plenty of water throughout the day and night.
- Masking is a sign of respect. If you are showing any signs of illness (even mild ones), please wear a high-quality mask. If you have a cough or sneeze due to allergies, wearing a mask can also help prevent worry from others.
- We will have free high quality masks available for everyone to use at the event.
- Be courteous. If someone asks you to dance while wearing a mask, you should also wear a mask for the duration of that dance. It’s a small way to show you care about their health and comfort.
- Wash your hands. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before and after eating and after using the restroom. Hand sanitizer is also a great option to use throughout the event.
- We will have hand sanitizer set out & available for everyone to use at the event.
- Communicate. Be open with your dance partners and friends about your comfort levels. If you’re not feeling well or are concerned about your health, it’s okay to say no to a dance or take a break.
